Most of my first solo trip was spent crying in European train stations, phone in hand, wondering what the hell I’d gotten myself into.
Hi, I’m Jen Ganson, your accidental solo travel expert.

Back in 2009, before smartphones and unlimited data plans, I did something wildly impulsive: I booked a solo trip to Europe with zero preparation, a paper map, and an ego that thought, “How hard could this be?”
Spoiler: It was a disaster.
I was lost. Overwhelmed. Crying in train stations. I had no plan, no backup, and no idea what I was doing. It went so badly, I cut the trip short and swore off solo travel forever.
Fast forward a few years. Life moved on, and I traveled—but always with people. I married a man who didn’t share my passion for adventure, and while we went places, they were never the kind of bold, spontaneous, life-changing trips I craved. My friends were busy with marriages and kids, and suddenly, waiting around for the perfect travel companion became exhausting.
Then, the best thing ever happened: I got divorced.
And just like that, I was free.
I stopped waiting. I booked the flights. I ate, I explored, I let the world pull me in. I learned that I could walk into any restaurant alone and enjoy the moment—sometimes with confidence, sometimes with a little nervous excitement. I discovered the magic of flirting across language barriers, finding my way through unfamiliar streets, and realizing that solo travel isn’t about never feeling lost—it’s about knowing you’ll always find your way.
I fell hard for solo travel—because it’s hot, it’s liberating, and it changes you.
Now? I crave it. I still love traveling with friends and meeting new people, but nothing compares to the fire that comes from exploring on your own terms.
And I want you to feel that too.
Let me show you how intoxicating it is to live, move, and roam like you were always meant to.
Happy Travelers
